Ordering Egyptian marble and granite for a single home is one thing.<\/p>\n

Ordering enough Egyptian marble and granite for 200 hotel rooms, 500 apartments, or an entire residential development is something else entirely.<\/p>\n

When you’re ordering that much stone, a small problem doesn’t necessarily stay small. A slight difference in slab tone can be repeated across dozens of units. A production delay can push back an entire installation schedule. A quality issue discovered after the material has already been shipped can become expensive, and sometimes difficult, to fix.<\/p>\n

This is why buying Egyptian marble and granite in bulk is about more than comparing prices and looking at photographs.<\/p>\n

Before committing to a large order, you need to know what happens after you place it: Where is the stone coming from? How much can the supplier actually produce? How is it inspected? What happens if something goes wrong?<\/p>\n

A single countertop is forgiving. A 200-unit order isn’t; the same small variance that’s invisible in one piece becomes obvious once it’s repeated down a hallway or across a facade.<\/p>\n

Natural stone is, well, natural. Variation in color, veining, and pattern is part of what makes it beautiful.<\/p>\n

But when you’re ordering hundreds of pieces, natural variation can quickly become a problem if it isn’t managed properly.<\/p>\n

Ask your supplier how they maintain consistency across the order.<\/p>\n

Are the slabs coming from the same block or quarry lot? How closely can they match the tone, veining, thickness, and finish<\/a>? Will you be able to approve samples before production begins?<\/p>\n

These may sound like small details when you’re looking at one countertop.<\/p>\n

They aren’t small details when you’re producing 200 of them.<\/p>\n

For a large project, you want these expectations established before the first piece is cut, not after the material arrives on site.<\/p>\n

2. What is your actual production capacity?<\/h2>\n

A catalogue tells you what a supplier sells.<\/p>\n

It doesn’t necessarily tell you what they can produce for you, in the quantity you need, within the time you need it.<\/p>\n

A supplier might be perfectly capable of producing 20 countertops. That doesn’t automatically mean they can produce 500 without affecting quality or delivery time.<\/p>\n

Ask about their current factory capacity<\/a>, access to the required raw material, equipment, workforce, and existing production commitments.<\/p>\n

The real question isn’t:<\/p>\n

“Can you produce this?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s:<\/p>\n

“Can you produce this quantity, to this specification, within this timeframe?”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Those are two very different questions.<\/p>\n

3. What is the realistic lead time?<\/h2>\n

When you’re planning a large project, “We can do it quickly” isn’t a particularly useful answer.<\/p>\n

You need to know how<\/strong> quickly.<\/p>\n

A bulk order can involve several stages before it reaches you: sourcing the blocks<\/a>, cutting and finishing, inspection, packaging, consolidation, shipping, customs clearance<\/a>, and delivery.<\/p>\n

Any one of them can affect the final timeline.<\/p>\n

Ask your supplier what the expected production and delivery schedule actually looks like. More importantly, ask what could cause that schedule to change.<\/p>\n

What happens if a block produces less usable material than expected? What happens if production takes longer? What happens if a shipment is delayed?<\/p>\n

A realistic timeline with contingencies is much more useful than an optimistic deadline that leaves no room for problems.<\/p>\n

4. How is quality checked before shipment?<\/h2>\n

When you’re buying a few pieces, you may be able to inspect them yourself.<\/p>\n

When you’re buying hundreds, that becomes a different story.<\/p>\n

This is where factory-level quality control becomes particularly important.<\/p>\n

Ask what the supplier checks before the material leaves the factory.<\/p>\n
